Privacy Policy

What I do:
I am in the business of providing personal apparel services to our clients. Sewing and garment design is what I do.

Consent
By using my website, you consent to this privacy policy.

What information do I collect?
I collect the names and addresses of clients who pay me for services, and compile them into a list. This list is used sometimes for mailing Thank You cards and Holiday cards to clients. It has been used to notify past clients of change of address when I moved (which I don't plan to do again in this lifetime!)

In future, this list may be used to distribute a newsletter to clients, but these plans have been around for several years, and I have yet to find the time, money and energy, all at the same time, to do this.
Your measurements are kept on file in case you wish to place another order.  All client records are shredded after 10 years.

E-mail Addresses
I use the email address you provide as part of inquiries or correspondence to reply to any comments or questions you may have sent me. On the occasion of major upheavals, such as when I had to abruptly move the Ibsite, I have used these email addresses to notify you of the new web location. While I don't foresee having to do this again, I cannot preclude the possibility.

Photos
If you send me a photo of you in your finished garment or costume, or if you let me take your picture at a personal fitting, I may use it for advertising brochures or on the website. As stated in our contract, I will not pay you for this use.

Photos used for "mail order fittings" are treated as Highly Confidential and destroyed after the satisfactory delivery of the order.

Cookies:
I do not use cookies or tracking software.

I DO NOT:
Reveal, release, sell or trade any information about our clients to anyone.  Upon court order or IRS audit, I will release information to governmental agencies.

Who does see your information?
Ruth, who uses the information to make your garments and correspond with you.  Occassionally, a computer technician may access information in the course of working on the office computer.  The sewing room is in my house, which is kept locked.

I do not embed cookies, applets or other surreptitious information gathering software in our website. I also don't record your phone calls (I DO take notes!). And I don't incorporate wireless transmitters into your garments, unless you pay me to.

Please Respect My Privacy As Well
Just like you, I value the illusion that I have some privacy. Running a home-based business makes this tricky at times. While I appreciate your posting my website on free listing directories, and linking to me, please don't add me to your favorite email newsletter or mailing list. I get enough spam as is.

You can call my listed phone number 24/7. It rings out in the sewing room, and I can ignore it when I want to, like when I go to sleep.

I use a mailing address at the UPSStore to foster this delusion of privacy. I do give out  my street address to active clients, so they can ship materials or payments directly to me, and come for fittings.   However, I get a bit cranky if you manage to find my street address and show up unannounced at the front door unannounced. Please call for an appointment before you come.

Privacy is a two way street. Remember to look both ways before crossing.
